Ranji Trophy is one of the oldest domestic tournaments in Indian cricketing history. The First-Class tournament has helped produce players who have been legends of the game.

There are 38 teams that play in this competition. Following are the teams that play in this tournament:

Ranji Trophy Format
The Ranji Trophy is divided into two groups, mainly the Elite and Plate groups. In the Elite group, there are 32 teams that are divided into four groups. Every team plays 7 league matches, and the top two teams from every group qualify for the quarterfinals, while the two teams at the bottom of every group are relegated.
The Plate group consists of 6 teams that play against each other, while the top 4 teams qualify for the knockouts. Teams that reach the finals of the Plate group qualify to play in the Elite group next season.
Ranji Trophy Points System
Currently, the points system for the Ranji Trophy is as follows:
- 6 points if a team wins outright
- 1 bonus point for an innings or a 10-wicket win
- 1 point for no result
- 3 points for first innings lead in a drawn match
- 3 points for a tie
- 0 points if a team loses outright
